Hi Everyone! Yesterday was a great day. We drove down to Boise to attend a conference with Dr. Anderson, one of the co-founders of the program. On the way down I was able to reflect back on he last two weeks. I have noticed that as stressful events have come up at work, I have been able to work my way through them without feeling my blood pressure rise. It has been easier to focus on the task at hand and work my way through things in a logical manner. That in itself is huge. I have been able to simply work through the problem and even remain happy while doing it.
We attended the first part of the seminar this weekend with Dr. Anderson at the Grove Motel in down town Boise, Idaho. I was very impressed with how personable he was as he gave us an introduction to the program and his personal history. As a critical care medical doctor he was frustrated seeing people come in on their death beds and just bandaging them up as they came in and left. He wanted to find a solution for people to be healthy and not be in a position where their quality of life is degraded due to poor health and be on medications and start practicing pro-active medicine. Much of what doctors are doing these days are re-active medicine. They are prescribing pills and things for people, but it does not get down to the root of the problem. From this he came up with this program.
For a lot of us out there, our problems are results of our "American diet" which allows for calorie dense foods and a sedentary lifestyle; resulting in bad health. We need to make changes to our diets and really realize the life-time impacts of what we are putting in our mouths today! What I love about this program is that my tastes and preferences are changing. I no longer have cravings or desires to eat those calorie rich foods any more. Rather I prefer eating my lean and green meals.
Well I'm on the road with no scales for the next few days, so I'll have to update you all late on what is happening.
