Day twelve: Perseverance

Traditionally this is about where it would all end for diets. I would have moderate success and then level out or cravings would get the better of me. This time it is different.

Our bodies need basics (carbohydrates, proteins, fats...) in our daily diets to function properly. When we go with out, our bodies naturally begin craving what we have denied our selves. At this point I would naturally give in to temptation and go back my old habits and the weight would pile back on.

Since this program is balanced to meet the needs of our bodies, the cravings are not there. (Except when my 4 year old daughter is eating a bowl of cereal in front of me saying, "Mmmm, yummy. You should try this. This is so good, can you see it?" That is torture! But I'm determined to make this work.

My dad used to drive me nuts when he would say, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going." Yes it is cliche, but it is true. As adversities have come up in the last two weeks (baking birthday cakes, taco wagons, cereal, spaghetti...) there has been a great inner strength to overcome and continue going. In large part that is due to my wife/coach, and everyone who reads this and cheers me on. Thank you to everyone who is out there reading this and supporting me, this has honestly been fun to do. Painful at times, but fun. I wish you all luck who have decided to begin making changes in your lives. Please share your successes or thoughts!

Anyhow, it is all paying off. The scales this morning said 271.8!
