Day fourteen: Staying positive

I wrote a little bit about this yesterday and before, but I'd like to come back to it. As my health is improving, I find it so much easier to stay positive. Not just about loosing weight or self-esteem, but life in general. It is true that we are living in times that most people have never seen before. There is a lot to be discouraged about if we give in to watching the news or listen to people as they share their woes, but it is much easier to keep a smile on my face and help others gain a more positive outlook on life.

A dear friend of mine that I met in Chile told me a story about a friend of his who worked for the CIA. This man was an agent who was sent to follow people and monitor situations. As the years passed, he became increasingly negative about life, himself, family and so on. He had many difficult times socially because he was always focused on negative things throughout the day and finding faults with people. His personal life began to crumble and almost lost his family when he realized what was happening to him. He started trying to find simple things in life that were positive and pondering upon those things throughout the day. As he learned the importance of positive thinking his life began to turn around and started healing relationships with those around him.

I don't want this to sound over-simplistic, but just want to encourage people to find a few small positive things in their lives. Ponder them throughout the day. Trying finding the good in people first. A wise piece of advice given to me many years ago is, "Everyone is my superior in at least on thing." As I have tried to find the one thing in at least each person around me I have come to appreciate others more.

The scales said 270.2 this morning. Staying positive!
